Montréal, September 29, 2016 – Loto-Québec is taking advantage of the Journées de la culture to unveil an artistic legacy to the Town of Mont-Tremblant and a showcase of Québec art at the Casino de Mont-Tremblant. The initiatives create an artistic journey in this Laurentian municipality and demonstrate Loto-Québec’s willingness to make the works of art in its collection more accessible than ever before. In so doing, the Corporation continues to support creativity with innovative projects.
- Loto-Québec is handing down a legacy to the Mont-Tremblant community in the form of a mural by artist René Derouin, produced by MU and painted on the Samuel-Ouimet de Mont‑Tremblant library rotunda.
- Derouin, who lives in the Laurentians, created a work of art that blends well with its architecture and environment.
- Named L’univers des oiseaux, la volière de Mont-Tremblant, the mural echoes the artist’s societal concerns, particularly nature conservation.
Cultural showcase at the Casino de Mont-Tremblant
- Loto-Québec asked guest curator Andrée Matte to take a new look at its collection to select works to be hanged in the gaming establishment.
- Matte’s selection will be added to the many works already on display, which were specially created for the establishment at the time the Casino was built.
- Many of the exhibited works were created by artists from the Laurentians.
- “Loto-Québec continues to support the creative scene. We also want our collection to be accessible and close to the general public,” said Simon Robert, Director, Corporate Responsibility at Loto-Québec.
- “This initiative is part of the Mont-Tremblant region’s cultural contributions and enhances Casino visitors’ experience,” added Alain Miroux, General Manager of the Casino de Mont-Tremblant and Casino du Lac-Leamy.
