When Tourisme Laurentides asked me to stay at an outfitter in the Laurentians, I didn’t have to think twice. I have visited outfitters throughout Quebec for my TV show, Expédition Faune on TVA Sports, for nearly twenty years now. As part of this project, I was to stay at one of the many outfitters in the Laurentian region.
Probably like a lot of people, I associated outfitters only with hunting and fishing. It was before discovering you can spend a dream holiday with family or friends, especially if you appreciate nature and outdoor activities.
The mountainous landscapes of the Laurentians consist of a great outdoor play area where a myriad of activities can be enjoyed: hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, small fruit and mushroom picking, bird watching and photo safaris. Not to mention the quad circuits specific to each of the 18 Laurentian Outfitters, in addition to the 1000 km of trails offered by the national network. And what about the 6,000 lakes, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and many other water activities! Such a huge playground that innkeepers enjoy sharing with visitors.
Fishermen are sure to be pleased with all the rivers, lakes and reservoirs ideal for fishing bass, pike, walleye, brook trout an many other species. In addition, the advice of experienced guides and the appropriate equipment guarantee hunters the optimum level of success in their quest for black bear, moose, wolf, fox, lynx, ruffled grouse, hare and wild turkey.
During our stay, we greatly appreciated the simplicity of our family vacation and this special tête-à-tête with nature. So much so that I intend to organize a getaway with friends in a comfortable cottage, an inn or, who knows, we might even go camping. I have realized that outfitters are ideal resort destinations thanks to the countless activities, the different types of accommodation and all the services they offer!
