Ski resorts in the Laurentians are bringing all kinds of novelty to the 2024-2025 season, improving and broadening the scope of their winter activities. Downhill sports enthusiasts are in for a treat! Several resorts are investing in modern infrastructure and optimizing their trail layouts to make skiing as fun and as safe as possible. With a total of 12 resorts in the region, there’s really something for all tastes and preferences. The runs are impressively varied, sometimes even within the same resort. This season’s additions guarantee a memorable stay in the Laurentians:
Les Sommets, a Mountain of Novelty!
There’s nothing like the thrill of hurtling down a snowy slope to make the most of winter! In an effort to improve the quality of its runs, Sommet Saint-Sauveur renovated the Red Bird and Express snow-making systems in 2019 and 2022, respectively; this year, Piste 70 is getting a new automated system to expand the skiable territory available at the beginning of the season. Meanwhile, the nearby Hôtel Manoir Saint-Sauveur has built a second hot-cold facility at its spa. The new Nordic-inspired spa features outdoor hot tubs and cold baths, as well as a brand-new, 15-person indoor dry sauna. Perfect for your après-ski this winter!
Over at Sommet Saint-Sauveur’s Versant Avila, there’s a brand-new family restaurant, Jack Rabbit, which promises to regale skiers’ taste buds with the same quality as the T-Bar 70 restaurant. Warm and welcoming, it’s the perfect place to gather with family and friends for some quality time after a day on the slopes!
One of this year’s big novelties is the new Élevation chairlift at Sommet Morin Heights. This installation completes the replacement of all mechanical chairlifts started in 2019, bringing the number of new chairlifts in the group to seven. Other improvements include the installation of a new section of the snow line, as well as the addition of a three-phase power line on the Après Vous trail, to allow for the use of snow guns. What’s more, a substantial amount has been allocated to renovating the main chalet. These improvements are well worth the trip!
Last year at Sommet Olympia, the mountain welcomed Apollo, a new four-seater Doppelmayr lift with a loading carpet. Again this year, everything is coming together for an incredible ski season! Finally, Sommet Gabriel is the perfect ski resort for families with young children, with its joyfully decorated Griffon run and indoor fun zone at Tamarack restaurant and bar. Hôtel Mont Gabriel, located at the top of the mountain, underwent major renovations following a fire in December 2022 and is officially set to reopen just in time for the ski season! This reopening will unveil a brand-new design, showcasing elements of nature, an organic atmosphere, and a modern, rustic decor.
Finally, Les Sommets has loads of events in store this winter, whether you ski or not. It’ll all kick off as soon as the snow arrives!
