Once winter arrives, the entire Laurentian region heads out to play! Plus, skating is a great way to exercise, get some air, and have fun in the winter. Whether on a lake, in a forest, in town, on an ice loop, or at night, there’s no shortage of opportunities to lace up your skates and reconnect with your inner child. Discover the skating trails and ice loops in the Laurentians:
On a lake
Make the most of winter and its frozen lakes to skate in the Laurentians! The rink at Lac Masson invites you out for a day of memorable skating on a path connecting the village of Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson to Estérel Resort. You can rent skates, helmets, and supports for children. What’s more, Lac Mercier in Mont-Tremblant offers the option of skating on a wonderful ice loop and an impressive ice slide at the heart of an incredible landscape. Note that shelters are open for you to warm up your fingertips and head back out with more zing in your step!
In the forest
You’re sure to fall for the charms of winter while skating through trails in the heart of the forest! The region offers a variety of options for a magical moment in good company. With decent trail lengths, Parc régional éducatif de Bois de Belle-Rivière in Mirabel, Centre de plein air Roger-Cabana in Saint-Hippolyte, and the popular Parc John-H.-Molson in Saint-Sauveur await for moments of fun! Parc du Domaine Vert in Mirabel is also ideal, with rental access. Park entry fees may apply.
In town
Whether for some free skating or for a hockey game between friends, head to the neighbourhood rink! Further to the south of the region, École l’Orée des Bois in Saint-Colomban has a wonderful forest trail and a rink designed for hockey players. You might be surprised by the Polyvalente de Saint-Jérôme’s multiple hockey rinks and 400-m ice loop. Wentworth-Nord, Parc Léonidas-Dufresne in Val-David, and Place Grégoire-Charbonneau in Nominingue have rinks that are perfect for free skating and hockey. Note that in Wentworth-Nord, there is a separate rink available for children aged 12 and under.
Skate on an ice loop
Reconnect with your inner child on an ice loop! Located in Sainte-Thérèse, Parc Ducharme welcomes you every day of the week for a skating break around its 1.4-km ice loop. An excellent spot to get some fresh air as a family! Further north, located in Tremblant pedestrian village, the rink at Chapelle Saint-Bernard is sure to trigger a range of emotions in its magical setting, featuring music and a campfire. Skating outdoors under the lights is sure to take you back many, many years! Get a free 2-hour skate rental every day when you stay at a participating hotel partner.
At night
After night has fallen, lace up your skates to discover rinks under the lights in the Laurentians! Almost all of our suggestions offer night skating! Don’t forget your hot chocolate! To guarantee a successful outing, please check the rink opening hours before you arrive. Make the most of winter, even at night.
