These six suggested road biking routes let you explore the Laurentians from south to north. The proposed itineraries have been verified in collaboration with Vélo Québec and include sections on roads and on cycle paths.
The perfect recipe for a successful bike outing!
The Virée du terroir is an intermediate bike route that covers 59 km. It explores the Lower Laurentians and offers the perfect opportunity to discover all the gastronomic attractions of the Chemin du Terroir. Stop for a picnic in the incredible fields of Maison Lavande, culture et parfumerie in Saint-Eustache. Pair your lunch with a refreshing beverage or dessert, all of which are lavender-based from the Bistro de la Maison’s kitchen. Don’t have a meal with you? Opt for the picnic box, which includes fine local products and a bottle of wine or a pizza, fresh from the wood-fired oven at La Bullerie in Saint-Joseph-du-Lac! Take the time to enjoy your meal in the vineyard before hitting the road again. Also in Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, sit down at the Table gourmande du Verger Lacroix, where the menu showcases farm-to-table products. You can also quench your thirst with one of several ciders! End your trip at Parc national d’Oka and cool off on the beach at Deux-Montagnes Lake. See their website for other on-site activity suggestions to round out your day on the bike.
Cultural stops along the Seigneurie d’Argenteuil
During your next bike ride, take the time to make a cultural detour along the Seigneurie d’Argenteuil, an easy 42-km route that’s perfect for discovering the municipalities and surrounding areas of Saint-André-d’Argenteuil and Lachute. Along your way, cross Hydro-Québec’s impressive Carillon Dam, built in the 1960s. Make sure to take a closer look with a free guided tour! You can also stop for a picnic while you enjoy the view of the Canal-de-Carillon national historic site and admire the massive guillotine gate and its 20-metre drop for visitors to the Ottawa River. Are you more of an artist? Stop in Lachute to visit two art galleries. From July 15 to 23, the Route des Arts event brings together artists from the region so that they can welcome you into their workshops and promote their work. For its part, the Centre d’art d’Argenteuil presents work from both Québec and elsewhere. What is it known for? Its trades shop, showcasing over 70 artisans! Make the most of attractions along your route to discover as much of the regional culture and history as possible!
Land of riches to discover
Explore the Pays-d’en-Haut over 38 km of asphalt roads and gravel cycle paths. Starting in Sainte-Adèle, visit Piedmont, Saint-Sauveur, and Morin-Heights to stock up on unique souvenirs! Part of the route is on the Parc linéaire du P’tit Train du Nord, a 234-km cycle path across the Laurentians. Follow the section between Mont-Rolland (Sainte-Adèle) and Piedmont along the Nord River. Also, stop at the Musée du ski des Laurentides in Saint-Sauveur to learn more about an important aspect of the region’s history: the history of downhill skiing. Finally, make sure to relax in Morin-Heights! L’Abri is a comfort store that sells plants, decorations, artisanal objects, and loads of little items to give as gifts or buy for yourself as a treat. For the utmost relaxation, experience the hot-cold cycle at Amerispa Nordique Morin-Heights, where hot baths, Finnish saunas, and Nordic waterfalls are designed to relax your muscles after several hours of hard work. From village to village, soak in the local heritage while your lungs take in the fresh air!
A bridge to the world of farming
Head out to discover the Laurentians over the 68 km of the Le Pont couvert bike route. Consisting of a loop around Huberdeau, Amherst, and Brébeuf, the route is an opportunity to admire the magnificent rural landscape. Take a break at the Calvaire d’Huberdeau heritage site in Huberdeau, where a breathtaking view of the village and Rouge valley awaits. For a livelier break, stop at the Du Coq à l’Âne des Laurentides educational farm, located in the same municipality. In addition to the animals, products like donkey or goat milk soap, essential oils, and artisanal creations are also available at the store. Finally, the route lines up with part of the Route des Belles-Histoires, passing by attractions such as the farmlands of Rockway Valley and Amherst, the À la découverte de l’Ouest heritage tour in Brébeuf, Prudhomme bridge, and many more! Make sure to include some fun stops when planning your next bike trip.
An all-inclusive ride
Transform your next bike ride into an adventure with the Balade du Mont-Tremblant. Over 53 km, the ride passes through Mont-Tremblant, La Conception, and Labelle, providing the opportunity for loads of outdoor activities to enhance your outing! For example, combine biking and water activities with the Labelle-based Kayak & Cabana, and choose from three routes on the Rouge River. At the end of the activity, the return shuttle ride takes you back to where you left off. Looking to cool off? Located in Tremblant Resort, the Club Plage et Tennis provides access to its beautiful sandy beach on Tremblant Lake, while offering a breathtaking view of Mount Tremblant. Lastly, why not wrap up your big sports day by relaxing in a nearby spa? Les Jumeaux de Ferme-Rouge is 43 km of landscapes in the heart of the Upper Laurentians, shaped by the Lièvre River. Bike along the shores of the Kiamika River and the vast and peaceful Écorces Lake, and discover this incredible agricultural valley, as well as the picturesque covered bridges in Ferme-Rouge. Along your way, take a detour via the Route du Lièvre, a tourist route that passes by some of the best locations in the Upper Laurentians. Discover the heritage infrastructure and nature, regional products, and artists and artisans who operate locally. Stop at the Centre d’exposition de Mont-Laurier for an art-themed break. Admire its permanent and temporary exhibitions; leave having experienced an unforgettable emotional and sensory journey. Finally, raise your glass to fun adventures at the Microbrasserie du Lièvre, located directly on the Lièvre River in Mont-Laurier.
