In autumn, the Laurentians transform into a landscape of dazzling colour. From orange-tinged yellows to blazing reds, nature dons its fineries for us. Because the show only lasts for a few weeks, the fall foliage map is a great way to keep an eye on the changing leaves throughout the region and plan a family hike through the autumn splendor. It’s the perfect way to slow down and watch nature at work. Why not extend your adventure by staying for one or more nights at a local inn, hotel or cottage? The colours won’t last long, so take out your camera and capture the jaw-dropping magic of Laurentian foliage!
Breathtaking mountaintop views
Before they become covered in snow, the ski hills of the Laurentians don a colourful coat of fall leaves. So, head to the Sommet Saint-Sauveur fall foliage event every weekend until October 29. Take the chairlift to the top for a stunning view! You can also admire the landscape at Sommet Morin Heights every Saturday and Sunday until October 15. The resort’s chairlift will be available for your ascent up the mountain. Then, hike back down as you admire the colourful landscape. Or, go to the Colours Festival at Avalanche culture plein air Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, which runs from September 30 to October 1. On the schedule: pumpkin decorating, hiking and chairlift rides to admire the stunning foliage from the summit! And for a spectacular mountainside experience, visit the Festival of Colours at Mont Blanc, held every weekend from September 24 to October 9. You’ll find chairlift rides, live music, bouncy castles, a food truck and more! Finally, take the panoramic gondola up Mont-Tremblant and let your hair down at Colourful Weekends, Presented by Archibald, running until October 8. You’ll experience a live performance, a celebratory atmosphere and a multi-hued panoramic view.
Active experiences in the autumn landscape
As the weather cools, bring out your inner athlete as you immerse yourself in the stunning autumn colours. Head to Aventures Plein Air St-Hippolyte to try canicross, an activity that lets you explore the forest with sled dogs. This experience offers different levels of trails, a kennel visit, and a fantastic view of the colourful vista from the top of a mountain. And don’t miss out on your last chance to hit the mountain bike trails before the ski season begins! Plan a trip to MSS Bike Park in Piedmont on the weekend. You’ll get to take in the fall foliage from two points of view: from the chairlift and as you descend the mountain. Finally, climb the rock walls at Passe-Montagne in Val-David and La Liberté Nord-Sud in La Conception for a jaw-dropping view of the fall landscape. Whether you’re a seasoned climber or just a beginner, these schools offer a wide variety of rock climbing lessons for all levels. Have fun and get moving in a new way as you make the most of fall in an enchanting setting.

See the colours from up high
Go vertical to admire fall foliage from a panoramic vantage point! Don’t forget you camera to snap a souvenir of the jaw-dropping landscape. Go up in the air with Hélibellule in Mirabel or Héli-Tremblant. Each company offers a variety of guided helicopter flight options to meet your needs. See the region’s fall foliage as never before! Or, get climbing at Tyroparc in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts to take in the natural spectacle as the trees light up with autumn colours. Several packages are available. The Discovery package includes two mega ziplines and the via ferrata, a rock wall hike. Then, you and your family can walk up the 40-metre tower at Sentier des cimes Laurentides in Mont-Blanc.
