No matter the time of year, there are plenty offestivals and events happening in the Laurentians. Music, dance, and theatre lovers can groove to the beat of the region’s many festivals and experience the creativity of local and visiting artists. As for sports, the Laurentians are hosting lots of major events this summer. Take a look at our suggestions:

Let’s get moving this summer!

Known for their extensive list of outdoor activities, the Laurentians are hosting several sporting events in which you can take part or help out! Don’t miss the Triathlon 5150 et Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant on June 24 and 25, and the Ironman Mont-Tremblant on August 20. In these events, athletes swim, bike, and run several kilometres. The Traversée du lac Tremblant is an epic experience for athletes of all levels and runs August 3 to 6. Choose one of four swim distances: 1 km, 3 km, 5 km, and the ultimate 15 km in an incredible lake. Back this season, every Wednesday night and Saturday morning,you’re invited to Rando X Yoga, a beautiful outdoor outing at Sommet Saint-Sauveur in which you climb the mountain and take a yoga class at the top. New this year, Sunrise X Yoga is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 a.m. for early birds! If you feel ready to take on one of these challenges, register now!

For a hot and rhythmic July

With summer heat waves come the beats of local musicians! Both morning and night, the cobblestone roads are lined with stages in the heart of nature, and you can’t help but groove along to the Festival international du blues de Tremblant, held from July 12 to 16 at Tremblant Resort. Enjoy several free concerts and the captivating spirit of the pedestrian village. Deep in the heart of the Laurentians, Saint-Sauveur is also hosting its own Saint-Sauveur Blues festival, this July 21 and 22! From July 20 to 22 at Tremblant Resort, don your cowboy boots and enjoy three days of free concerts for the Rythmes Tremblant New Country! On a classical note, but featuring a variety of styles from jazz to pop, the Festival Stradivaria is touring the region throughout July. Attend grandiose concerts in breathtaking outdoor settings, not to mention in the most stunning churches and concert halls.

A mine of arts

Discover the Laurentians as the region’s artists and artisans see them! Hit the road from July 15 to 23 and travel the Route des Arts. Featuring around twenty artists and artisans, its workshop tour is a window into the creative world of painters, illustrators, sculptors, and much more! From July 7 to August 20, the 1001 pots event is hitting the stage in Val-David village. It includes a public market, demonstrations, contests, workshops, and shows. Ceramics are the focus of several activities, such as the Bal des lucioles (Firefly Ball) or the Bols du partage (Sharing Bowls). Do you like music and dancing? From July 26 to August 6, check out the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur and its lineup of popular artists, such as Ex Machina and Côté Danse for Hamlet – Première ébauche (First Draft), a meeting at the summit between Guillaume Côté, dancer and artistic director of the Festival, and Robert Lepage, man of the theatre and exceptional Shakespearean director. Check out the full programme and waltz away the summer to the beat of the region’s arts festivals. They’ll make for some exciting outings!

Summer is for family fun

You’re sure to have plenty of opportunities to get out with your kids this summer! The next few months feature an abundance of events in the region for the whole family. On August 12 and 13, Prévost will become a haven of illustration and onomatopoeia for the Festival de la BD, a one-of-a-kind event featuring exhibitions, live illustration, workshops, author meet and greets, and much more!  For a breathtaking outing for young and old, check out the Festival aérien Volaria in Mirabel this September 8 to 10. Let this aerial show turn your world upside down, and enjoy the explosive soundtrack! If you have trouble sitting still, head to Mirabel this August 26 for the Festival on bouge, on danse Sphéria. It’s the perfect opportunity to stretch your legs, show off your best dance moves, and learn some new ones! Lastly, Sommet Saint-Sauveur has the ultimate summer night in store with an outdoor cinema all summer long.

The mouth-watering Laurentians

Quench your thirst for festivities this summer with a variety of food-related events. From June 30 to July 1st, the Parc de la Gare de Mont-Blanc is transforming into the Festi-Bière. The menu features craft beers, and the food trucks showcase local and traditional gastronomy. For a successful family gathering, check out the Grande Tablée du marché in Saint-Eustache this July 7. Choose your supper from several ready-to-eat meals and pick one of 300 seats to eat your food while you enjoy some jazz music and a variety of entertainment. On August 5, celebrate the harvest at Oka’s Fiesta des récoltes and enjoy Latin flavours in the food area, with the excitement of a show or a soccer tournament. Finally, travel back in time during the Festival de la galette in Saint-Eustache on September 16 and 17. For the occasion, meet historical figures and enjoy a famous buckwheat crepe. With all these festivities, savour life to the fullest!

Listen to the sounds of August

While summer gradually fades throughout August, the music is still going strong here! From August 2 to 6 in downtown Mont-Tremblant, the Festi Jazz Mont-Tremblant is scheduled to present over 40 free shows. Everyone’s invited to Quebec’s most authentic jazz festival, back for a 16th edition with all kinds of novelties!  Fans of guitar and acoustic music will be delighted to experience the captivating, relaxed atmosphere at the Festival Superfolk. This August 18 to 20, head to Morin-Heights village to discover local musicians and suave sounds. The programme is kept secret to make it a surprise! And, finally, if you love the heat and the sun, you won’t be able to resist the Fête latine de Saint-Sauveur and its free outdoor concerts, mostly featuring Latin music. From September 1st to 3, join the party and relax as you take a trip south for the last time this summer!
